Welcome to the CCSU Music Department

The Goal of the Music Department is to promote quality learning and musical development among all students, through quality teaching and excellent performance opportunities. The faculty seeks to help students achieve their utmost musical potential within the framework of a liberal arts institution. They help music majors become well-prepared professional musicians, music educators, and liberally educated people enriched through the role of music in their lives.

The CCSU Music Department has grown considerably in size, scope and prestige during the past decade.

Size:
There are currently 200 majors in our undergraduate and graduate programs. Another 30 students are music minors.

Scope:
Degree programs meet the needs of music educators, performers in both classical and jazz idioms, composers and music theorists. Our music technology offerings and state-of-the-art lab keep us current with major changes in the discipline as the result of technology.

Prestige:
In 2002 the CCSU Music Department received accreditation by National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). This endorsement indicates that we have met the high standards set by NASM in every aspect of higher education music. CCSU Music is increasingly recommended by private teachers and public school educators to students wanting a quality music experience and a degree with prestige.
