Tom' Short Bio Mr. Labadorf is a seasoned soloist making frequent guest appearances with professional orchestras and wind ensembles. He is equally comfortable with the classical clarinet repertoire and contemporary works, and actively performs music of the world's avant garde composers involving the latest applications of electronic processing devices. Performances include a premiere of Noel Zahler's Clarinet Concerto for Chamber Orchestra and interactive electronics, and solo and chamber concerts with the Society of American Composers under the direction of Pierre Boulez. Mr. Labadorf is a member of the United States Coast Guard Band in New London, CT and is presently on the faculty of Central Connecticut State University and Connecticut College.
Longer Bio Clarinetist Thomas Labadorf is a member of the United States Coast Guard Band in New London, CT and principal clarinetist with the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra. As soloist, he performed a variety of solo works with orchestras and bands by Bassi, Copland, Debussy, Mozart, Nielson, Rossini, and Weber as well as his own transcription for wind ensemble of Jorge Calandrelli's Concerto for Jazz Clarinet. Mr. Labadorf performed a premier performance of Noel Zahler's Clarinet Concerto at Connecticut College and will be featuring another world premier of Andrzej Anweiler's Cappricio with the Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra. Mr. Labadorf is a founding member and former artistic director of Hop River Chamber Music Series in Andover, CT. He is presently on faculty at the Central Connecticut State University and Connecticut College in New London where he also performs frequently in faculty chamber recitals as a member of the Connecticut College Chamber Ensemble. Mr. Labadorf holds a Bachelor of Music Education and a Certificate of Performance on Clarinet from the Eastman School of Music and a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Connecticut.
