Scholarships for Singers
CCSU University Singers 2007-2008
Qualifications:
Choral experience. Successful audition for University Singers, (vocal quality, sight reading ability, tonal memory, musical expressiveness). Recommendations that attest to musical abilities and leadership.
Requirements:
Membership in University Singers each semester student is on scholarship. A 3.5 in University singers, and a 2.8 overall GPA required to remain on scholarship. A theory and/or sightsinging course may be required. Leadership and organizational duties will be expected.
Features:
Students receiving scholarship awards will have half-tuition paid by the university for four years. Two awards will be given to incoming freshmen each year. Additional awards may be available for up to two transfer students.
Application Deadline:
Preference will be given to applications received by April 1, 2008. Application's may be accepted after this date if scholarship is still available.
Application:
Applicants must first be admitted to CCSU. A letter expressing interest in the scholarship program, with two letters of recommendation, and a resume indicating musical experience should be submitted. Address applications to:

Scholarships will be awarded to talented musicians, regardless of chosen major. The University Singers is typically composed of 75% music majors, and 25% non-music majors. CCSU University Singers rehearses 4 hours per week, and performs throughout each semester for several campus events, and off campus concerts. The ensemble has toured Germany in 1994, Puerto Rico in 1997, Hungary in 2000, France in 2006 and plans to represent CCSU internationally whenever possible. |
